[12/13/22] My work "Deep Learning-based Method for Multiple Sound Source Localization with High Resolution and Accuracy" was awarded for the Best Paper Award (3rd place) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).

[12/04/22] A research paper entitled "Deep Learning-based Prediction and Interpretability of Physical Phenomena for Metaporous Materials" has been accepted for publication in Materials Today Physics.

[05/25/22] I was selected as a recipient of the POSTECHIAN Fellowship, supported by the Education Program for Frontier Leadership in Advanced Machinery Technology, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). I will be conducting various studies related to the 'AI-based Recognition for Acoustic Digital Twin'.

[12/06/21] I won the Best Research Achievement Grand Prize of the High-Potential Individuals Global Training Program (글로벌 핵심인재 양성 우수성과 대상), supported by the Institute for Information and Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP)  for the international joint research with the University of Wisconsin-Madison on the Sustainable Smart Manufacturing using IIoT and AI.

[11/25/21] My work on "Super-resolved Sound Source Localization via Deep Learning" is awarded for the Best Presentation Award at the KSNVE (Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering) conference.

[11/24/21] I presented my work "Physics-informed Neural Networks for Wave Propagation and Scattering Characteristics" at the KSNVE (Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering) conference.

[11/05/21] I presented my research "AI-aided Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration" at a joint workshop of iAI lab, POSTECH and SDDO lab,  GIST. 

[11/04/21] My work on AI-based sound source localization is awarded for the Top 10 Mechanical Technologies of 2021 !!! I appreciate all the support and encouragement that I have received.

[10/01/21] Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration (AUV) group in iAI lab. is now teamed up with Sooyoung Lee (Leader), Keonhyeok Park, and Iljoo Jeong. We will conduct extensive research on related fields, in close collaboration with the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) and under supervision of Prof. Seungchul Lee.

[03/31/21] A research paper entitled "Deep Learning-based Multiple Sound Source Localization with High Resolution and Accuracy" has been accepted for publication in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing.

[03/03/21] I joined Acoustics, Ultrasound, and Vibration Research Group in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) as a Guest Researcher.

[01/13/21] I have passed the Ph.D. oral preliminary exam! My research proposal was about "3D Representation Deep Learning and its Applications in Mechanical Engineering".

[10/23/20] A research paper entitled "Deep Learning-based Phase Prediction of High-entropy Alloys: Optimization, Generation, and Explanation" has been accepted for publication in Materials & Design.

[08/23/20] I presented my work "Acoustic Source Localization for a Single Point Source using Convolutional Neural Network and Weighted Frequency Loss" at Inter-Noise20 (Virtual). 

[08/10/20 ~ 08/14/20] Sooyoung Lee gives one-week AI tutorials for the Department of IT Convergence, University of Ulsan.

[07/16/20] I received the Best Paper Award at the reliability division of the KSME (Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers) with my work "Data Preprocessing and Machine Learning Techniques for Detection and Classification of Bearing Faults".

[07/13/20]A research paper entitled "Vision-based Fault Diagnostics using Explainable Deep Learning with Class Activation Map" has been accepted for publication in IEEE Access.

[02/25/20] I visit the University of Wisconsin-Madison for 6 months as a Visiting Research Fellow. I will work with Prof. Sangkee Min for Sustainable Smart Manufacturing using IIoT and Artificial Intelligence. This international joint research is supported by the High-Potential Individiduals Global Training Program of Institute for Information and Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP).

[01/21/20] A research paper entitled "Spatial and Sequential Deep Learning Approach for Predicting Temperature Distribution in a Steel-making Continuous Casting Process" has been accepted for publication in IEEE Access.
